Joyce L. Camel, 97 of Lincoln, IL passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at TimberCreek Village Assisted Living in Lincoln, IL.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Joyce was born on April 7, 1927, the daughter of John O. & Jessie D. Baker in Lincoln, IL.
Joyce graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1945, where her uncle William C. Handlin was the principal. She always said she was teased about preferential treatment due to the fact that her uncle was the principal. Handlin Field was named after her Uncle William.
She was married to Marvin "Dish" Camel on June 4, 1950. They were the parents of Cheri Camel Esayian and Dana Camel. Joyce and Dish were born in Lincoln and lived their entire lives in Lincoln. Dish preceded Joyce in death on April 28, 1993.
Joyce started her work career at McGrath Sand and Gravel in 1945 and worked there for 13 years. She then took several years off to be a Mom. After her children were older she worked in the admitting/re
